Free Virtual Session on Zoom

Through the Local Food Economy Lab, the Alliance is thrilled to offer a free webinar to cover the topics of lender readiness and financial pro formas. This webinar is designed for small-scale farmers, ranchers, fishermen, and food business owners, and ideal to attendees of the Financial Literacy Workshop that was offered on August 28th. This webinar is offered in partnership with Rebecca Frimmer of Kitchen Table Consultants (KTC), a collective of advisors passionate about supporting local food systems and providing meaningful, hands-on advising services to small businesses.

The goal of this webinar is to support new and beginning, small-scale food business owners with building knowledge of how to prepare to raise funds or apply for a loan. We’ll start with a short review of each financial statement and what we’re looking for in a financial statement review. Then we’ll move into a discussion about financial ratios, KPIs, and how to use them to tell a story about business performance and growth through a case study activity. At the end of the session, you’ll have gained the knowledge and understanding to have a productive conversation about your business’s financial statements with a lending professional.

Topics covered in this webinar include the following:

  • Reading your financial statements through the lens of business performance - efficiency and improvement

  • Introduction to ratio analysis - what ratios should I be looking at and why?

  • Introduction to performance metrics - how is this different from general ratio analysis and how to apply this alongside my financial statements for context?

  • We’ll apply what we’ve learned through a case study and discuss what we can learn about a business from the financial statements, ratios and performance metrics.

While this workshop is free, we ask that you register so that we can plan accordingly. Space is limited.
