The Alliance is a collaborative of groups and individuals organized to affect positive change in the San Diego County's local food system.
An ideal food system considers the 4 Es: Environment, Economics, Equity & Education. The purpose of the San Diego Food System Alliance is to develop and maintain this ideal food system locally in San Diego County.
The Alliance Leadership Team consists of more than 30 members representing a diverse cross section of the food system, including (but not limited to): distribution, health, food security, philanthropy, production, education/ research and government. We also have more than 50 groups participating in our Working Groups.
The creation of the Alliance was a recommendation of the San Diego County Food System Working Group, convened in 2010, and the "Urban-Rural Roundtable" organized in 2012 by County Supervisor Ron Roberts and Mayor Jerry Sanders.
