An ideal food system considers the 4 Es: Environment, Economics, Equity & Education. The purpose of the San Diego Food System Alliance is to develop and maintain this ideal food system in San Diego County. A regional collaboration is our mechanisms for achieving this vision.

The Alliance represent a diverse cross section of the food system, including: distribution, health, food security, philanthropy, production, education/ research and government. The Alliance's 30-40 Voting Members provide strategic guidance to the coalition. The Alliance has over 100 groups  and many advocates contributing to our Working Groups.

Our History

The creation of the Alliance was a recommendation of the San Diego County Food System Working Group, convened in 2010, and the "Urban-Rural Roundtable" organized in 2012 by Roots of Change, County Supervisor Ron Roberts and Mayor Jerry Sanders.
