This 2nd of four 3-hour classes is an activity-based day. Students that have already completed the Farming 102 Plant Families Class and the prior Introduction to Weeds class will be well prepared, but will still benefit those with no prior experience. Topics to be covered for each family include historical and contemporary ethnobotanical uses, toxicity, ecology, and collection permitting in CA for foragers and educators.
We will gather data from sites around the farm and continue to build our personal plant portfolios. We will also practice preparing some simple wild foods in the kitchen.
