Hunger Free Kids: Opportunities by School District to End Child Hunger
Alliance Healthcare Foundation and San Diego Hunger Coalition invite you to the fall
Join us on Wednesday, November 1st, for a special preview of the San Diego Hunger
Coalition’s soon-to- be released report Hunger Free Kids: Opportunities by District to End Child Hunger. This report is the first of its kind to analyze our region’s current utilization of federally-funded child nutrition programs by both school districts and community-based organizations.
According to the Hunger Coalition’s latest analysis, more than 1 in 5 children in San Diego
County don’t always have enough to eat. We have the solutions but are only using a fraction of the resources available to us.
Imagine providing more than 15 MILLION ADDITIONAL MEALS ANNUALLY to food insecure children in our region…without raising money for food! Instead, by increasing children’s access to school breakfast, afterschool supper and summer meals, we could actually bring an estimated additional $30 MILLION EACH YEAR into
our community, supplementing food service budgets for schools and youth-serving
And we can get there in 5 years.
Join us for a special convening to learn more about the report’s findings and the most
promising opportunities to ensure low-income children and youth in San Diego County
have enough to eat. Register now for this iEngageU event.
